PANEL DISCUSSION DESCRIPTION
Although conjunctivitis is one of the most common clinical problems seen in cats worldwide, this condition continues to present diagnostic and therapeutic challenges for general practitioners and specialists alike. Navigating the aetiology of feline conjunctivitis can often be a complicated and frustrating process for both the cat owner and the veterinarian. Our panel of world-leading experts will share how they attempt to work out the aetiology of, and treatment course for, both acute and chronic inflammation of this vulnerable mucous membrane in their feline patients. Evidence-based, up-to-date information on diagnostic and medical advances will be presented and details debated. Join us for what promises to be a fascinating enlightening panel discussion. Questions and comments from attendees will be welcomed.
Dr. Lauren Demos qualified as a veterinary surgeon from Murdoch University in 2012, and has since worked in various aspects of feline medicine, including general practice, referral medicine, radioiodine therapy, telehealth, infectious disease research, and shelter medicine. She completed a feline medicine residency and obtained her specialist status in 2019; subsequently she has practiced in various niches of veterinary medicine around the world. She currently is a consultant at the Oxford Cat Clinic in the UK, lecturing and teaching on various feline topics, as well as consulting for various veterinary groups. She is a past president of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, and has worked with the Veterinary Information Network, the International Society for Feline Medicine, and Fear Free in various capacities.
Lauren has published on various wide-ranging topics in feline medicine, such as novel research into feline papillomavirus, and co-authored Cats For Dummies. She is passionate about feline internal medicine, and integrating various therapeutic approaches of feline medicine to treat the feline patient in toto.

Dr. Jessica Meekins is originally from Louisville, Kentucky. She received her DVM degree from The Ohio State University after obtaining a BS in biology from a small private college in her hometown. She completed a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at VCA Veterinary Care Referral Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico before finishing a residency in comparative ophthalmology at Purdue University. Dr. Meekins joined the faculty at Kansas State University in 2012.
Dr. Sebbag obtained his Veterinary Medical Degree from the National Veterinary School of Toulouse (France). He then completed a rotating internship at Kansas State University before pursuing a residency in Comparative Ophthalmology at the University of California-Davis. Dr. Sebbag held a position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (Ophthalmology service) at Iowa State University, where he completed a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences focused on pharmacology and ocular disease models. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO), and his clinical and research interests include ocular surface diseases, tear film biology and innovations in drug delivery to the eye.
More InfoAfter graduating from the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada, Dr. Michelle Willis completed a small animal internship at Michigan State University, residency training in Comparative Veterinary Ophthalmology at the University of Georgia, and was board certified by the ACVO in 1998. She spent almost 4 years in academic practice at The Ohio State University and has been practicing veterinary ophthalmology for almost 3 decades in the private sector. For the past 11 years, has practiced ophthalmology exclusively with cats in the Metro West area of Boston.
The cat has been a long-term personal and professional passion for Dr. Willis, from their behavior, unique set of ocular conditions, and special relationship with their owners. She currently oversees an ophthalmology service within a feline-only practice, providing the cat owner with the option to pursue specialty eye care for their pet in as calm and stress-free an environment as possible. In addition, she provides multiple local feline rescue groups with ophthalmology care. While she enjoys all aspects of feline ophthalmology, ocular surface disease, uveitis and corneal and eyelid surgery are of special interest. Dr. Willis is a long-term member of the Feline Veterinary Medical Association (formerly the American Association of Feline Practitioners), is a certified Cat-Friendly Veterinarian, and promotes the Fear-free philosophy in her daily practice. She welcomes veterinary students to shadow her in clinics and is frequently invited to speak on topics in Feline Ophthalmology and Cat Friendly Practice.
