COURSE DESCRIPTION

This two-day practical course was developed for practitioners with a good working knowledge in equine radiography/radiology who are keen to acquire helpful tips and tricks to further develop their skills in the field of equine musculoskeletal imaging.  The equine diagnostic imaging clinicians will discuss each anatomic region by comparing radiography with other complementary imaging modalities accessible to equine practitioners (up and foremost ultrasound, but also MRI & CT) through which additional information can be gained.  The panel of world-renowned specialists will share common technical pitfalls, practical tips and tricks, erroneous image interpretations and pearls of wisdom openly and honestly with the attendees through lectures, practical sessions and extensive case-discussions.  The use of comparative imaging as part of the prepurchase examination will also be discussed.

As part of the 9 hours of x-ray and ultrasound wetlabs on live horses and case-discussions attendees will get plenty of opportunities to further their radiography/radiology and ultrasound skills at the following stations:

  • X-ray Tips & Tricks – Foot, Pastern & Fetlock
  • Ultrasound of the Heel Bulb & Pastern on live horses
  • Specific Views of the MC/MT, Carpus & Tarsus on live horses
  • Ultrasound of the Suspensory Ligament Origin – FL vs. HL
  • Specific Views for Elbow, Shoulder & Cranial Ribs on live horses
  • X-ray Tips & Tricks – Stifle on live horses
