Dr. Shana Buchanan developed an early and unwavering desire to become a veterinarian. She is a licensed veterinarian and the owner of Bridgeway Animal Clinic, Lakeway Animal Medical & Surgical Clinic, and Western Hills Animal Medical & Surgical Clinic, actively practicing across all locations.

Originally from a small Texas town, Dr. Buchanan was raised within a large and close-knit extended family. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University and entered veterinary school just ten days after completing her bachelor’s degree. In 2007, she further strengthened her business expertise by completing an MBA to support the management of her clinics. She is also certified in veterinary acupuncture, chiropractic care, and Chinese herbal medicine, and is an active member of both the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Buchanan’s lifelong passion for animals, paired with her fascination with science, has guided her veterinary career. A pivotal experience sparked her strong interest in integrative and alternative medicine. Professionally, she is especially drawn to internal medicine, alternative therapies, geriatric care, client education, and the daily interactions involved in caring for pets. She finds great satisfaction in helping animals heal, guiding owners through treatment decisions, and tackling complex medical cases with persistence and collaboration.

Jenny graduated from the University of Bristol Veterinary School in 2008. After spending three very enjoyable years in a busy first opinion small animal practice, she returned to academia in 2011 to undertake first a rotating internship, followed by a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine. She became a European Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2016, and shortly thereafter also achieved Recognised Specialist status with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Jenny returned to Bristol Veterinary School in 2018 as a Senior Lecturer in Small Animal Medicine, a role which encompassed clinical work within Langford Vets alongside academic leadership and undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary teaching. Jenny remains fascinated in all areas of Internal Medicine, which was the driving force behind a decision to focus exclusively on clinical work with Langford Vets, in Spring 2022.
