Dr. Boesch is a 2006 graduate of the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a residency in anesthesiology at Cornell in 2010 receiving the Veterinary Class of 1954 Clinical Resident Award. She was subsequently appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Veterinary Anesthesia at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, and returned to Cornell as a Lecturer in the Section of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine in 2013. In addition to her lectureship duties she is also currently a PhD candidate with the Department of Paraclinical Sciences at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Dr. Boesch focuses her research on pain and its management, particularly interventional and chronic pain management, as well as the physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology of captured wildlife. Her interest in anesthesia and pain management applies to all species.

In 2015 Dr. Boesch received the SAVMA Teaching Excellence Award in Clinical Sciences. She is a member of the International Society for the Study of Pain, International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (DACVAA). She serves as faculty advisor for the Student Chapter of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management.

Professor Dr. Pablo Otero holds the position of Professor of Anesthesiology and serves as the Head of the Anesthesia and Analgesia Department at the Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Buenos Aires. He obtained his DVM and PhD in Veterinary Science from the University of Buenos Aires, as well as an additional PhD in Anesthesiology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. Dr. Otero is certified as a veterinary professor in Higher Education at the University of Buenos Aires. He has previously served as the President of the Argentinian Association of Anesthesia and Analgesia (AAAVRA) and as the President of the Latin American Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (LAVECCS). Dr. Otero also serves as an editorial board member of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. He has significantly contributed to the advancement of his field through the publication of numerous original peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and textbooks on Anesthesia and Pain Management.

Dr. Portela received his veterinary degree from the School of Veterinary Sciences, University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 2002. In 2009, he obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Pisa (Italy) focusing his research on small animal regional anesthesia. He worked from 2009 to 2013 as a post-doc in the Anesthesiology section of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, University of Pisa (Italy). In 2016, Dr. Portela completed his residency in anesthesiology at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine (Ithaca, NY). He is currently a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia and holds the position of Assistant Professor in anesthesia and pain management at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.

Dr. Portela's primary research focus centers on locoregional anesthesia and he has authored textbooks and numerous peer-reviewed articles in this field and lectured in various locoregional anesthesia courses and workshops. 

Dr. Matt Read graduated with a DVM with distinction from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Canada in 1998. Following graduation, he completed a residency in veterinary anesthesiology and a Master of Veterinary Science. He became board-certified with the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA) in 2002. Following his residency, Matt taught at the University of Georgia for two years before returning to Canada and developing and supervising the anesthesia services in two large specialty hospitals in Toronto and Calgary between 2003 and 2010. Matt served on faculty at the University of Calgary as an tenured Associate Professor from 2010 to 2018 before moving to Ohio where he currently works for MedVet Columbus as an anesthesiologist and serves as Specialty Team Leader for MedVet, a family of emergency and specialty hospitals with more than 40 locations across the USA. Matt has delivered over 100 lectures and workshops around the world and is co-editor of the recently published second edition of the textbook, Small Animal Regional Anesthesia and Analgesia. He dreams of someday going into space and opening an ice cream shop in the Caribbean, not necessarily in that order.
