PANEL DISCUSSION DESCRIPTION
The use of LASER therapy for musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries in horses has and continues to grow across the globe. With several LASER types, specifications and protocols available, we have assembled an international panel featuring four leading and highly experienced experts to discuss and debate the clinical applications of LASER therapy in horses.
Valuable for both experienced LASER users and those wanting to explore the potential of this technology, this interactive session will offer insights grounded in the latest scientific research and clinical experience.
Andre worked as an equine veterinarian at the University of Berlin performing research of the ‘kissing-spine’ syndrome, alongside his clinical work. In 2003 Andre set up practice for sports medicine in the UK and has been team veterinarian for the British Equestrian Federation and its World Class performance programme since 2006. He is a FEI accredited veterinarian and has supported various nations at the Olympics, world equestrian games and international competitions.
He combines conventional orthopaedic medicine with acupuncture and chiropractic to allow the horse to reach and maintain its optimum performance. The majority of his case load is back problem and lameness related.
Andre has competed to International level himself, so has a great understanding of the demands on high performance horses.
Dr. Adair earned his D.V.M from Auburn University. After receiving his D.V.M., Dr. Adair spent two years in private equine practice and completed a surgery residency at the University of Tennessee. He is presently a Professor in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville and is Director of the Equine Performance Medicine and Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Adair is board certified as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and is a charter Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is also certified in Animal Chiropractic by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association and is a Certified Equine Rehabilitation Practitioner. Dr. Adair’s primary research areas include Equine Musculoskeletal conditions, Regenerative Medicine and Equine Rehabilitation.
