Dr. O’Shea grew up in New York and has always been passionate about horses. She received her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in 2005 and her veterinary degree from Western University of Health Sciences in 2009. She then completed a rotating internship at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital in Bonsall, California and a surgical internship at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Caitlin stayed at Virginia Tech for the Large Animal Surgery Residency program and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2015. During her time at Virginia Tech, Dr. O’Shea completed a master’s degree in biomedical and veterinary sciences, investigating equine platelet rich plasma (PRP). Caitlin joined the veterinary team at Sharjah Equine Hospital in the United Arab Emirates in 2015. In addition to providing specialty emergency care, she manages and consults on many equine lameness and sports medicine cases and has a particular interest in equine podiatry. Dr. O’Shea is currently completing certification in traditional Chinese veterinary medicine and acupuncture through the Chi Institute.
