Ionita graduated in December 2000 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Bern in Switzerland. He then worked in the Equine Clinic of the same University and obtained his doctorate (Dr. med. vet.) degree in 2002. After this, he spent one year working at the Swiss National Stud and in equine clinics in Canada and Germany. From 2003 to 2014, he worked as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor at the Large Animal Clinic for Surgery of the University of Leipzig in Germany. Since 2014, he offers his services as a veterinary consultant and organizes veterinary professional courses. His main research interests are related to regenerative medical products (examination of autologous blood-derived orthobiologics) for the treatment of orthopedic diseases in horses. Besides, he is specialized in large animal anesthesiology and conducted anesthetic research projects in horses, sheep and camels.
