Dr. Hart is Professor of Large Animal Internal Medicine and Hodgson Chair of Equine Studies at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. She received her DVM from Cornell University in 2004. She completed her residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine in 2008 and a PhD in Endocrine Physiology at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, after which she joined the faculty at UGA. Dr. Hart’s clinical interests include large animal endocrinology, neonatology, and neurology, and her research centers on immune-endocrine interactions in equine sepsis and the diagnosis and treatment of equine sepsis and endocrine diseases. She has chaired the Equine Endocrinology PPID working group since 2021 and is an active participant and current leader of the Dorothy R. Havemeyer Foal Sepsis working group. Dr. Hart also has a strong interest in mentoring students in research, serving as director of the College’s DVM-PhD combined degree program from 2016-2026 and being honored with UGA CVM mentoring awards in 2020 and 2021. When she is not working, Dr. Hart enjoys traveling, yoga, good food, good books, and spending time with her husband Alan and their two daughters on their Georgia farm.
