Dr. Roe completed his veterinary degree at the University of Queensland in 1979. He did his residency at the University of Illinois and became an ACVS Diplomate in 1992. He completed his PhD at the University of New South Wales in 1991. He joined the surgery faculty at NCSU in 1991. He was promoted to Professor in 2006. He retired in December of 2022. He continues to support the clinical program through attendance at resident rounds, mentoring junior orthopedic faculty, and participating in complex surgical procedures. He continues to support the DVM program through lectures in both 2nd and 3rd years. Dr. Roe’s research interests are in biomechanics of tissues and implants. He provides mentorship for junior faculty research projects and advises on protocol development for a number of external projects. He is the Chair of the Fellowship Organizing Committee for the ACVS Joint Replacement Surgery fellowship. He participates in AO North America continuing education courses, including chairing a course on surgical approaches to long bones and the pelvis.
