Escape the ordinary and join us for an unforgettable Continuing Education (CE) Event set against the breathtaking backdrop of Oman’s deserts and coastline. This all-inclusive boutique event is designed for those seeking both clinical inspiration and an extraordinary travel experience – all in the company of like-minded professionals. Blending 20 – 40 hours of RACE-Approval pending small animal CE with the magic of Arabian culture this is a truly unique opportunity to learn, connect, explore and unwind.

Our 6-day-long adventure begins with a transfer by 4WD into the sweeping dunes of Wahiba Sands, where we will stay at the beautifully authentic and eco-friendly Sama Al Wasil Desert Camp. Enjoy a warm welcome reception, a stargazing & Bedouin-style dinner, and two mornings of expert-led lectures and interactive case discussions in a unique desert 'boutique conference' setup. Optional desert activities such as 4WD dune adventures, sandboarding, and camel rides complete your experience.

On Day Three, we head back to the coast to the 5-star Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa in Muscat. Nestled between rugged and dramatic mountains and the turquoise sea, this luxurious beachfront resort will be our base for the final four nights. You will enjoy further carefully curated lectures and discussions, and free time for relaxation at the beach or spa, or optional excursions including visits to the Grand Mosque, Mutrah Souq, the Royal Opera House, or serene beach strolls along Qurum Beach.

The final evening will feature a traditional music and cultural experience before a day of free exploration and relaxation, giving you time to unwind or enjoy the resort at your own pace.

The interactive lectures and case-discussions will be delivered by hand-picked, internationally renowned speakers, Drs. Jackie Demetriou DECVS (Granta Vet Specialists, UK), Kris Gommeren DECVIM, DECVECC (Univ. of Liege, Belgium) and Rob Foal DECVIM-CA (Granta Vet Specialists, UK). The 20 hours of in-person cutting-edge lectures / case discussions will cover the following disciplines (program to follow soon), with a further 20+ hours of complimentary Online Learning available on-demand:

  • Practical Advice – Keep valuables secure, be mindful in crowded markets, and follow guidance from local organisers.

  • Mobile Data – Local SIM cards from Ooredoo or Omantel are affordable and widely available.

8. What to Wear

  • Respecting Cultural Norms – Oman is a conservative country, and modest dress is essential in public areas:

    • Women: Cover shoulders, upper arms, and knees. Loose tops with sleeves and trousers or skirts below the knee are ideal. Carry a light scarf to cover your hair when entering mosques.

    • Men: Avoid sleeveless shirts and shorts in public; wear lightweight trousers and short- or long-sleeved shirts.

  • At Cultural/Religious Sites – Both men and women should cover arms and legs; women should also cover hair. Clothing should be loose, opaque, and non-clingy.

  • Event & Leisure Wear:

    • Desert – Light, breathable clothing for the day, warm layers for cooler nights.

    • Beach/Pool – Swimwear is fine in hotel pools and private beaches; cover up when walking outside those areas.

  • Tipping is not mandatory but appreciated for good service.

  • In restaurants, a 10% tip is customary if service isn’t already included.

  • Guides/drivers: US $10–15/day; tour guides: US $20–30/day for a group.

  • Small tips of 500 baisa to 1 OMR are common for everyday assistance.

  • Greet with “Salaam aleikum” — it’s polite and appreciated.

  • Public displays of affection are discouraged.

  • Always ask before photographing people, especially in rural areas.

  • Remove shoes before entering a mosque or private home.

  • During Ramadan, avoid eating, drinking, or smoking in public during daylight hours.

  • Alcohol purchases at land borders are prohibited and may be confiscated.
